Ride for Toni began only some 18 months ago after Toni Wright had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and was being cared for at Ipswich Hospital and then St. Elizabeth Hospice.

The idea of a cycle ride across Germany was conceived at her bedside as a way of visiting the places she had grown up as a child. We had hoped that Toni would accompany us too, but sadly that was not to be. She passed away in May 2017 at the age of 44.

Her family members, however did complete the emotional 5 day, 400 mile cycle tour across Germany in August 2017.

Since then, there have been many events in Toni's memory. These have included Rock for Toni (a gig by band Darkseed) - Quiz for Toni - (a quiz extravaganza in Playford) - a second cycle tour, this time in Cornwall in August 2018, a walk by Toni's young niece, Eva, a 12 strong cycle ride from London to Ipswich, a 6 mile Midnight Walk, a 25 mile cycling participation in Ridefest and ongoing monthly pub quizzes.

Toni herself contributed significantly to the fund through her legacy as well as being the inspiration for it. We are so proud of her.

More events are planned by Team Toni and it is our particular hope that in time we can grow the number of cycle tour participants as our centrepiece. This is our modest but lasting contribution to St. Elizabeth Hospice who not only provided Toni with loving care in her final weeks, but also helped us, her family, through that painful time and beyond with their dedication, devotion, love, care and expertise.

The Hospice have agreed that all funds raised by the Ride for Team will be allocated to their wonderful "X Change" project which supports young people with progressive illnesses. Toni was a paediatric nurse who absolutely adored her young patients and this could not be more fitting.

We are so grateful to every single person who has contributed their money, time, effort, expertise and more to this cause. Thank you!
